Australian Base Camp (ABC) is a popular viewpoint located on the lower slopes of the
Annapurna range in Nepal, offering stunning panoramic views of some of the highest peaks in
the region, including Annapurna I, Machapuchare (Fishtail), and Hiunchuli. Situated at an
altitude of about 2,100 meters (6,890 feet), it serves as an accessible and serene destination for
trekkers looking to experience the Himalayas without undertaking a more strenuous trek. The trek
to Australian Base Camp, which is usually completed in a day from Kande (a short drive from
Pokhara), passes through picturesque rhododendron forests, traditional Gurung villages, and
terraced fields, making it an excellent introduction to both Nepali culture and Himalayan
scenery.
