Rara Lake, located in the far northwestern region of Nepal within the Rara National Park, is the

Day 01Kathmandu to Kohalpur
➢ Departure: Start early in the morning from Kathmandu.
➢ Drive Duration: The drive from Kathmandu to Kohalpur is approximately 9-10 hours (around 500 km).
➢ Route: You will take the Prithvi Highway towards Pokhara, and then continue on the Butwal–Bhairahawa
route, passing through scenic hills, valleys, and towns, eventually reaching Kohalpur in the Banke District.
➢ Arrival in Kohalpur: Check into your hotel and relax after the long drive.
➢ Overnight in Kohalpur: Stay at a local hotel or lodge. -
Day 02Kohalpur to Manma
➢ Morning: After breakfast, begin your journey towards Manma, the district headquarters of Kalikot.
➢ Drive Duration: The drive from Kohalpur to Manma takes around 6-7 hours (approximately 200 km).
➢ Route: The road can be rough as you enter the remote areas, passing through smaller towns and villages
along the way. The landscape becomes more mountainous as you approach Manma.
➢ Arrival in Manma: Check into your accommodation and take time to explore the surroundings or relax in
the small mountain town.
➢ Overnight in Manma: Stay in a guesthouse or lodge. -
Day 03Manma to Talcha
➢ Morning: After breakfast, depart for Talcha, the gateway to Rara Lake.
➢ Drive Duration: The journey from Manma to Talcha takes around 4-5 hours (approximately 140 km),
although the road conditions may be challenging as you enter more remote areas.
➢ Route: You will continue on rough mountain roads. The last section of the road to Talcha will be winding
and bumpy, but the scenery will make it worthwhile.
➢ Arrival in Talcha: Arrive in Talcha, which is the closest accessible point to Rara Lake. Check into your
accommodation.
➢ Evening: If time permits, you can take a short walk around the area to enjoy the mountain views and
tranquil surroundings.
➢ Overnight in Talcha: Stay overnight in a lodge or guesthouse near Talcha. -
Day 04Talcha to Rara Lake and Exploration
➢ Morning: After breakfast, take a hike or horse ride to reach Rara Lake.
➢ Arrival at Rara Lake: Check into your accommodation near the lake. Rara is the largest lake in Nepal
and offers stunning views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks and lush forests.
➢ Afternoon: Explore Rara Lake by walking around its shores or taking a boat ride. The trek around the
lake usually takes around 4-5 hours and offers incredible views.
➢ Evening: Enjoy a peaceful evening by the lake, soaking in the natural beauty.
➢ Overnight at Rara Lake: Stay in a local lodge or guesthouse near the lake. -
Day 05Return from Rara Lake to Manma
➢ Morning: After breakfast, travel back to Talcha from Rara Lake, either by foot or a short vehicle ride.
➢ Drive: From Talcha, drive back to Manma. The journey will take about 4-5 hours, retracing the route from
earlier.
➢ Afternoon: Arrive back in Manma, and check into your accommodation. If time allows, explore local
markets or enjoy the mountain views.
➢ Overnight in Manma: Stay in a guesthouse or lodge. -
Day 06Manma to Kohalpur
➢ Morning: After breakfast, begin your return journey to Kohalpur.
➢ Drive Duration: The drive back from Manma to Kohalpur takes approximately 6-7 hours.
➢ Arrival in Kohalpur: You will arrive in Kohalpur in the afternoon. Take some time to rest or explore any
remaining areas. -
Day 07Kohalpur to Kathmandu
➢ Drive to Kathmandu: From Kohalpur, you will continue your drive back to Kathmandu, which takes
another 9-10 hours (approximately 500 km). The journey will retrace the route taken at the start of your
trip.
➢ Evening: Arrive back in Kathmandu.
