Poon Hill is a breathtaking trekking destination in the Annapurna region of Nepal, renowned for
itsstunning panoramic views of the Himalayas. Situated at an elevation of 3,210 meters, it provides
an accessible vantage point for trekkers of all experience levels.
The trek typically begins in Nayapul and winds through charming villages like Tikhedhunga,
Ghorepani, and Ghandruk, allowing visitors to experience the rich culture of the local Gurung
community. Many trekkers aim to reach Poon Hill early in the morning to witness the spectacular
sunrise over peaks such as Annapurna I, Annapurna South, and Machapuchare.
The best times to visit are during the clear months of September to November and March to May,
when the weather is most favorable for trekking and views. Poon Hill is not only an excellent
option for beginners due to its moderate difficulty, but it also offers fantastic opportunities for
photography, capturing the dramatic landscapes and vibrant colors of the region.
Itinerary

Day 01Kathmandu to Nayapul
• Depart from Kathmandu early in the morning.
• Travel along the scenic Prithvi Highway, enjoying views of rivers and mountains.
• Lunch and tea break en route.
• Arrive in Nayapul and check into your hotel.
• Explore beautiful village. -
Day 02 Nayapul to Tikhedhunga (Trek)
• Trek for Tikhedhunga after breakfast.
• Start your trek to Tikhedhunga, which takes about 4-5 hours through beautiful terraced
fields and local villages.
• Overnight in a guesthouse in Tikhedhunga. -
Day 03 Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (Trek)
• Begin your trek to Ghorepani, which lasts about 6-7 hours, featuring a steep ascent and
rhododendron forests.
• Arrive in Ghorepani in the afternoon and check into a lodge.
• Rest and prepare for the early morning hike to Poon Hill. -
Day 04Poon Hill Sunrise and Trek to Tadapani
• Wake up early and hike to Poon Hill for stunning sunrise views of the Annapurna range.
• After enjoying the scenery, return to Ghorepani for breakfast.
• Trek to Tadapani, which takes about 6 hours.
• Overnight in a lodge in Tadapani. -
Day 05Tadapani to Ghandruk and Return to Pokhara
• Trek to Ghandruk, taking around 4-5 hours.
• Explore Ghandruk, including the local museum, and enjoy the views.
• Drive back to Pokhara from Ghandruk and check into your hotel. -
Day 06Pokhara to Kathmandu
• Depart for Kathmandu after breakfast.
• Arrive back in Kathmandu by late afternoon.
